Kalyana Karnataka’s ₹12,900 Crore Track to Transformation

Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti V. Somanna has announced that the Centre has sanctioned ₹12,900 crore for railway projects in the Kalyana Karnataka region.

Speaking at the foundation stone–laying ceremony of a road overbridge at Hagaribommanahalli, the Minister said railway funding for Karnataka has seen a substantial increase under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government, rising from about ₹882 crore annually to ₹7,500–8,000 crore per year. This enhanced allocation has helped fast-track railway infrastructure development across the state.

Highlighting key projects, Somanna referred to the Ballari–Chikkajajur double-line railway project, approved at a cost of ₹3,400 crore, and the construction of a ₹38.7-crore road overbridge between Gunda Road and Kottur. He also mentioned the proposed flyover near the Tungabhadra Dam and the ₹26-crore Hosapete–Hampi road project, which is expected to be completed by June.

The Minister urged district authorities to expedite land acquisition processes and ensure timely clearances to avoid delays in railway project execution.
