Kanhan Connectivity on Track: Nagpur Metro's New ₹300 Crore Plan

The proposed 1.3-km extension of Nagpur Metro's Phase 2 on the Kamptee stretch has been submitted to the Maharashtra state government for final approval, following all internal clearances, according to senior MahaMetro officials.

This ₹300-crore project will extend the metro line from the current terminus to Kanhan village, featuring a 500-meter steel bridge over the Kanhan River. Upon state approval, the proposal will be forwarded to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) for central clearance. Groundwork will begin only after the Centre’s final nod.

Part of the ongoing Phase 2 expansion, the Kamptee corridor was initially planned to terminate before the Kanhan River with 12 stations. The extension will now push the line to 14.3 km, adding a new station and improving connectivity for daily commuters.

With this addition, the total length of Phase 2 will surpass 45 km, up from the originally planned 43.8 km. The extension was first announced by Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule in February.
