The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Karnataka, represented by the Department of Electronics, IT, Biotechnology, and Science & Technology. This strategic partnership aims to accelerate the development of Karnataka’s commercial space launch capabilities and strengthen its emerging NewSpace ecosystem.
The MoU outlines several key initiatives, including the establishment of a state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence for Space Technologies in Bengaluru and the development of a public-private space manufacturing park. These efforts are intended to provide vital infrastructure and support for private space enterprises in the state.
Formed in 2020, IN-SPACe serves as the central government body responsible for facilitating and regulating space activities by Non-Governmental Entities (NGEs) in India. This collaboration reinforces IN-SPACe’s mission to empower private players in advancing India’s space ambitions.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Ekroop Caur, IAS, Secretary to the Government of Karnataka, and Mr. Lochan Sehra, IAS, Joint Secretary of IN-SPACe. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, IAS, Chief Secretary to the Government of Karnataka, and Dr. Pawan Goenka, Chairman of IN-SPACe, reflecting the strong institutional commitment to this joint initiative. The partnership is expected to catalyze a dynamic ecosystem for space technology innovation and manufacturing in Karnataka.
