On 16 October 2026, the Karnataka government issued a preliminary notification to acquire an additional 13,409.05 sq. metres of land across 11 properties (including Kaggalipura and Jaraganahalli) for Package 1 of Namma Metro Phase 3 (Orange Line). This marks the third land acquisition notice for the 44.65-km, 31-station Phase 3 project, whose Corridor 1 spans 32.15 km from JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura.
Concurrently, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) has invited Expressions of Interest (EoIs) for a General Consultant to oversee engineering and project management, while seeking a Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) loan from JICA to help fund construction. The expansion prioritizes multimodal integration with existing rail, bus, and suburban networks to significantly reduce traffic congestion across Bengaluru.
