Deputy Commissioner of Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, reviewed the progress of AMRUT 2.0 water supply schemes across six towns in the district, emphasizing the need to fast-track key infrastructure projects.
Under AMRUT 2.0, Kathua will implement a comprehensive water supply plan covering Kathua, Nagri, Lakhanpur, Hiranagar, Basohli, and Billawar, including 14 tubewells, 14 overhead tanks (OHTs), seven sump tanks, and an extensive pipeline network, set to benefit 22,930 households. Sharma directed the XEN PHE to prioritize OHT construction, highlighting its importance for stabilizing the distribution system.
“Immediate commencement of the pipe network is essential to ensure timely coverage of the targeted households,” the DC said. He also stressed the need for smooth inter-departmental coordination to resolve field-level issues and ensure timely, high-quality implementation of the scheme.
