Kerala’s healthcare sector is poised for a major expansion, with projects worth over ₹1,800 crore scheduled to be launched across the state this month, significantly enhancing medical infrastructure and access to quality healthcare.
Health Minister Veena George said the initiatives mark an unprecedented phase of growth, aimed at addressing critical gaps in specialised treatment, research, and patient care. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will lay the foundation stone for the ₹643.88-crore Institute of Organ Transplantation in Kozhikode, which is being developed as a Centre of Excellence for treatment, surgery, rehabilitation, research, and training.
The ₹387-crore Cochin Cancer Research Centre will be inaugurated on February 9, bringing advanced cancer care facilities to central Kerala. Other major projects include the ₹257-crore surgical block at Kottayam Medical College, the International Research Institute of Ayurveda in Kannur, and a new building at the Regional Cancer Centre in Thiruvananthapuram.
“These projects will be a significant addition to the state’s health and medical infrastructure,” Minister Veena George said.
