Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Trust (SMPK) has invited bids for the reconstruction of Berth No. 8 and the mechanization of Berths 7 and 8 at the Netaji Subhas Dock (NSD) within the Kolkata Dock System (KDS).
The project includes designing and constructing Berth No. 8 in alignment with the existing Berth No. 7, which will be dismantled as necessary. Additionally, the development will feature a container stack yard, internal roads, and essential buildings, following the techno-economic feasibility report. The project will be executed on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) basis under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
With a contract value of ₹698.84 crore, the initiative aims to enhance port infrastructure, targeting an optimal capacity of 4,48,140 TEUs annually. The project site spans approximately 1,05,609 sq. meters (26.19 acres), encompassing berths, roads, stack yards, and a four-acre waterfront area for Berth No. 8 and its backup facilities.
The deadline for bid submission is 16 April 2025.
