Kothagudem Airport: Central Team to Inspect New Sites on Sept 7

A Central technical team will visit Telangana on September 7 to inspect four to five alternative sites identified for the proposed Kothagudem airport, after two previously examined locations were found technically unsuitable.

The inspection follows a meeting between Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao and Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu in New Delhi. The Telangana government has submitted the alternative locations to the Centre for evaluation, with the technical assessment expected to determine the feasibility of the proposed sites and guide the next steps for the airport project.

The airport is planned as a major infrastructure boost for Bhadradri Kothagudem district, aimed at improving air connectivity and supporting regional economic development. The initiative is part of Telangana’s broader efforts to strengthen aviation infrastructure and expand connectivity across the state.
