Kyndryl's India Push: A $2.25 Billion Bet on AI and Digital Talent

Kyndryl, formerly IBM’s infrastructure services arm, has announced a ₹18,750 crore (USD 2.25 billion) investment in India over the next three years, aimed at modernising critical technology infrastructure, accelerating AI adoption, and advancing large-scale digital talent development.

As part of the initiative, Kyndryl will establish a state-of-the-art AI Innovation Lab in Bengaluru, designed to strengthen collaboration with the Government of India on artificial intelligence and digital public infrastructure programs. The company also plans to deliver digital training to nearly 200,000 citizens while scaling up IT talent across the country.

The investment will focus on key areas including AI, cybersecurity, and hybrid IT modernisation, in line with India's long-term goals for digital transformation and economic growth.

Welcoming the announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “India warmly welcomes global partners to explore the vast opportunities in our nation and collaborate with our talented youth to innovate and excel.”

With this commitment, Kyndryl aims to play a pivotal role in helping Indian enterprises modernise their data systems, adopt AI-driven technologies, and strengthen national digital infrastructure.
