Lahaul-Spiti MLA Anuradha Rana has welcomed the Central Government’s approval of development projects totaling nearly ₹108 crore, marking a significant boost for the region’s infrastructure and public amenities. Among the major initiatives sanctioned are the long-pending ₹23-crore sewerage project for Keylong and a state-of-the-art High-Altitude Sports Centre in Kaza.
Rana expressed her gratitude to both the Central and state governments, as well as Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, for their continued support. She also acknowledged the key role played by Ram Singh, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Minority Affairs, in facilitating the approvals under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK).
To formally launch the projects, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju will visit Kaza on June 27 for a two-day tour. On June 28, he will inaugurate three major sports facilities: a High-Altitude Sports Training Centre, an Ice Hockey Rink with Pavilion, and a Sports Training Facility with a cricket ground.
The following day, Rijiju will travel to Keylong to lay the foundation stone for the much-awaited sewerage scheme. These initiatives are expected to significantly enhance sports infrastructure and civic services in the remote Himalayan district, propelling its overall development.
