Leading the Lithium Shift: Amara Raja’s 1 GWh Milestone

Amara Raja Energy & Mobility (ARE&M) has surpassed 1 gigawatt-hour (GWh) of cumulative lithium-based energy storage deployment in India’s telecom sector, covering more than 50,000 sites nationwide and securing over 35% market share in the segment.

This milestone underscores the company’s strengthening position as a key provider of telecom battery solutions and reflects the growing adoption of advanced energy storage systems across India’s expanding digital infrastructure.

M.M. Venkata Krishna noted that while crossing the 1 GWh mark is a significant operational achievement, it also lays the groundwork for future growth. He highlighted that the scale, execution capabilities, and customer relationships developed in the telecom space position the company to expand into adjacent areas such as data centres, industrial applications, and commercial infrastructure.

Harshavardhana Gourineni added that the milestone mirrors a broader transformation in India’s energy ecosystem. He pointed out that energy storage is increasingly becoming a core infrastructure component, driven by trends like digitisation, electrification, and renewable energy integration, with a gradual but clear shift from conventional technologies to advanced storage solutions underway.
