A new 50-bed critical care block will be established at Civil Hospital in Sector 10, Gurugram, to enhance emergency and ICU services. Developed on a one-acre site adjacent to the existing hospital, the facility will include an emergency area, ICU, isolation wards, operating theatres, and labour-delivery-recovery (LDR) rooms with a newborn care corner.
This addition will ensure critically ill patients—those with severe infections, organ failure, or recovering from major surgeries—receive timely care, particularly during the crucial golden hour. By easing the burden on emergency services, the facility will enable faster and more efficient treatment. It will also be integrated with imaging services and a central sterile services department (CSSD) with mechanised laundry, linked to the district hospital.
The three-floor building will feature a medical gas pipeline system, oxygen generation plants or supply, air handling units, and infection control mechanisms. The project, undertaken by CPWD under the PM-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), is expected to be completed within two years. Before construction begins, CPWD will conduct a survey, soil testing, and an aerial assessment to finalise architectural plans.
As per the design, the ICU will have 10 beds, while the high-dependency unit (HDU) will accommodate six, including two paediatric beds in each. Additionally, there will be 24 isolation beds, two dialysis beds, and five emergency beds. To strengthen critical care capacity, 22 such blocks will be developed across the state—15 in civil hospitals and seven in medical colleges.
