London Calling Hyderabad: UoL to Launch Landmark India Campus

The University of London is set to establish its first offshore campus in Hyderabad, Telangana, marking a significant milestone in the internationalisation of higher education in India.

According to reports, university representatives have initiated the application process with the University Grants Commission (UGC), with plans to admit the first batch of students in the 2027 academic year. The campus is expected to begin operations from a temporary facility at the Lake View government guesthouse in Hyderabad before moving to a permanent campus in the proposed ‘Bharat Future City’ on the outskirts of the city, envisioned as a knowledge and innovation hub.

The initiative aligns with the Telangana government’s efforts to attract globally reputed universities, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Officials also indicated ongoing discussions with several other international institutions for similar collaborations.

Meanwhile, Newcastle University has explored potential academic partnerships in Hyderabad across areas such as artificial intelligence, data science, entrepreneurship, healthcare, agribusiness, and management, reflecting growing global interest in the region’s emerging education ecosystem.
