L&T Secures Landmark Solar-Plus-Storage Project in Bihar

Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) Renewables arm has secured a major EPC contract to develop a 116 MWac grid-connected solar PV plant integrated with a 241 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Kajra, in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district.

With this addition, the site’s total co-located storage capacity will reach 495 MWh, making it India’s largest solar-plus-storage installation. The four-hour BESS will enable energy time-shifting, storing excess solar power for dispatch during peak demand periods. The system features advanced liquid cooling technology for enhanced safety, higher power density, and longer operational life.

This project supports the Government of India’s renewable energy storage goals and aligns with Bihar’s Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan, promoting local employment and energy security.

Previously, L&T Renewables won a 275 MW solar EPC project in Gujarat, further solidifying its leadership in India’s clean energy transition. L&T continues to maintain its legacy of over eight decades in delivering high-quality EPC projects and infrastructure solutions.
