L&T Semiconductor and C-DAC Collaborate to Advance Indigenous Chip Technology

L&T Semiconductor Technologies has entered into a significant memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) to jointly develop local chip technology. This collaboration aims to establish a stable ecosystem for semiconductor innovation in India, focusing on creating Make-in-India integrated circuit (IC), system-on-chip (SoC), and electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM) solutions. The initiative is geared towards applications in automotive, industrial, and energy sectors.

The MoU outlines a comprehensive framework for collaborative research, development, and training initiatives between the two entities. By combining their strengths, L&T Semiconductor and C-DAC aim to drive innovation in semiconductor technology, enhancing India's capabilities in this critical sector. The collaboration aligns with the Indian government's commitment to advancing public-private partnerships (PPPs) to foster technological innovation and self-reliance.

As a fabless semiconductor company, L&T Semiconductor will leverage its expertise alongside C-DAC’s advanced computing capabilities to accelerate the development of cutting-edge technologies. This partnership is expected to yield significant advancements in semiconductor design and manufacturing, contributing to the growth of India's semiconductor ecosystem.

The strategic collaboration also emphasizes the importance of indigenization in the semiconductor sector, a key focus area for India as it seeks to reduce dependence on foreign technologies. By developing local capabilities, the partnership aims to position India as a prominent player in the global semiconductor industry.
