The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has unveiled a transformative infrastructure development plan worth over ₹400 crore, aimed at modernizing the city, improving environmental conditions, and enhancing urban aesthetics.
The initiative includes a broad spectrum of projects—from road and drain construction to solid waste management and boosting the city’s green cover. These will be carried out under key schemes: the Infrastructure Fund (₹160 crore), the Solid Waste Management Scheme (₹173 crore), and the Air Quality Improvement Scheme (₹74 crore).
A major focus is on strengthening waste management, with ₹100 crore allocated for building new transfer stations for efficient garbage processing. Road development will receive ₹134 crore, including ₹60 crore for road repairs, ₹30 crore for main roads, and ₹60 crore for drainage works. Street lighting improvements total ₹62.76 crore, with upgrades and new installations across 88 villages under the Marg Prakash Yojana.
Water infrastructure will also see enhancements, with ₹19.19 crore for 28 new tube wells and ₹26.64 crore for reboring 46 existing ones. Additional projects include a new municipal workshop in Hariharpur (₹6 crore), flood pumping stations at the zoo (₹3 crore) and Faizullaganj drain (₹4.6 crore).
To boost the city’s green and aesthetic appeal, funds are earmarked for beautification projects: ₹10.12 crore for cleaning Kathauta Lake, ₹2 crore for water fountains at key intersections, and ₹1.7 crore for decorative entry gates. Parks and green spaces will see rejuvenation, with ₹8 crore for neglected parks, ₹6.71 crore for a new ‘Nagar Van,’ and ₹16.2 crore for Miyawaki forest development.
Pollution control efforts are receiving ₹14 crore, with additional funding for anti-smog guns (₹2.5 crore) and a dedicated air quality monitoring cell (₹50 lakh).
Outgoing municipal commissioner Inderjit Singh emphasized the city’s eco-friendly, sustainable approach: “LMC is committed to upgrading infrastructure, tackling pollution, and preserving the city's aesthetic charm.”
This comprehensive investment reflects Lucknow’s bold vision for a cleaner, greener, and smarter future.
