Made in India: Copeland’s ₹500 Cr Milestone at Atit

Copeland has completed the first phase of its ₹500 crore expansion at its Atit manufacturing facility near Pune, marking a significant milestone in its India operations.

This phase includes the localisation of scroll hermetic compressor manufacturing, making Copeland the only company to produce scroll compressors domestically. The achievement was marked by the rollout of the first batch of 5 HP scroll compressors manufactured at the Atit facility, reinforcing the company’s commitment to strengthening local production and supply capabilities.

The Atit plant manufactures compressors, condensing units, and heat pumps, catering to sectors such as railways, metro systems, and electric buses. Over the past two years, the facility has introduced more than 350 new products, including compressors compatible with low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants such as R-32 and R-290.

Commenting on the development, Jagadish Keswani, President – India, Middle East and Africa at Copeland, said, “India has emerged as a critical component of our global manufacturing strategy. Our focus on localisation and advanced refrigerant technologies enables us to meet evolving customer requirements while strengthening supply chain resilience.”
