The Maharashtra Cabinet Sub-Committee on Industries, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has approved 17 major industrial projects worth ₹1.35 lakh crore, aimed at driving economic growth and job creation across the state.
The approved projects span high-impact sectors including semiconductors, electric vehicles, green steel, textiles, space and defense equipment, and solar energy components. Collectively, these initiatives are expected to generate approximately 100,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
Among the proposals, the largest is a greenfield gas-to-chemical project in Raigad district by Essar Exploration and Production, involving an investment of ₹56,852 crore and estimated to create around 25,000 jobs.
The sub-committee, empowered to grant incentives under the Package Scheme of Incentives and Thrust Sector Policy for large and mega projects, reviewed 19 proposals in total, of which 17 were approved. “These investments will fuel technological innovation, enhance R&D, and significantly boost employment across Maharashtra,” said Chief Minister Fadnavis.
The projects are expected to strengthen Maharashtra’s industrial base, promote sustainable development, and position the state as a leading destination for high-tech and future-ready industries.
