Mega ₹1,400 Cr Water Grid to Transform Vijjeswaram Access

Union Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries, Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma, has announced a ₹1,400-crore Water Grid project at Vijjeswaram in West Godavari district, as part of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

The announcement was made during a review meeting chaired by the Minister to assess Central and State government projects. For the 2025–26 financial year, the Central Government has sanctioned ₹1,735 crore for JJM implementation in West Godavari, with ₹1,400 crore earmarked specifically for the Water Grid project.

During the meeting, local leaders including Zilla Parishad Chairperson Ganta Padmasri and District Collector Ch. Nagarani emphasized the need to strengthen irrigation infrastructure, including improvements to canal systems.
