Mission Ready: TN Secures ₹1,600 Cr Aerospace Investment

In a major development for Tamil Nadu’s aerospace and defence ecosystem, Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Ltd (TIDCO) has signed four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with private sector companies, unlocking a combined investment of ₹1,600 crore and the potential creation of around 1,900 jobs. The announcement was shared by Industries Minister T. R. B. Rajaa on social media.

As part of the agreements, PMI Engineering Exports will invest ₹500 crore to establish a precision aerospace manufacturing facility, expected to generate nearly 1,000 employment opportunities. The proposed unit will manufacture flight-critical components for civil aviation and defence applications, including high-precision 5-axis CNC-machined parts with micron-level tolerances, as well as advanced components made from titanium alloys, Inconel, and nickel-based superalloys.

In addition, SIMVAYU has committed ₹600 crore to set up a state-of-the-art aviation training and simulation centre in Chennai, creating about 350 jobs upon completion. The facility will house Level-D Full Flight Simulators for Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and will operate as a DGCA-compliant Approved Training Organisation. It will offer aerospace certification, simulator engineering, research and development, and drone simulation services.

Collectively, these MoUs underscore Tamil Nadu’s strategic efforts to expand its aerospace and defence capabilities, attract advanced technology investments, and generate high-skilled employment across the sector.
