Modi Powers Bihar: ₹5,200 Crore for Infrastructure & Growth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a series of development projects worth over ₹5,200 crore in Siwan, Bihar, aimed at strengthening the state’s infrastructure and driving socio-economic growth.

Among the key highlights was the inauguration of the Vaishali–Deoria railway line project, valued at over ₹400 crore, along with the launch of a new train service along the route. PM Modi also flagged off a new Vande Bharat Express connecting Patliputra and Gorakhpur via Muzaffarpur and Bettiah, significantly enhancing rail connectivity across North Bihar.

In a major boost to India’s manufacturing sector, the Prime Minister flagged off a high-tech export locomotive manufactured at the Marhowra Plant for delivery to Guinea, marking the facility’s first international shipment under the “Make in India – Make for the World” initiative.

As part of the Namami Gange Mission, PM Modi inaugurated six sewage treatment plants (STPs) worth ₹1,800 crore, and laid foundation stones for additional STPs, water supply, and sanitation projects totalling ₹3,000 crore across multiple towns.

In the energy sector, he announced the installation of 500 MWh battery energy storage systems (BESS) at 15 grid substations, a step toward improving energy resilience and grid stability in Bihar.

Additionally, over 53,600 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) received their first instalments, while keys were symbolically handed over to select individuals from among 6,600 completed homes.

These projects collectively reflect the government’s ongoing efforts to transform infrastructure, boost regional connectivity, and improve the quality of life for Bihar’s citizens.
