On September 20, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone for SJVN’s 200 MW solar power project at the Khavda Solar Park in Kachchh, Gujarat. The project is being developed under GUVNL Phase XVII by SJVN Green Energy Ltd. (SGEL), a subsidiary of SJVN.
The ceremony was attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel and Union Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Chandrakant Patil, Shantanu Thakur, Nimuben Bambhaniya, along with senior officials from SJVN, SGEL, and Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd. (GSECL).
Project Highlights:
Investment: ₹866.8 crore, Power Purchase Agreement: 25-year supply to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. (GUVNL) at ₹2.88 per unit, Energy Output: 504.92 million units in the first year; 11,620 million units over 25 years, Environmental Impact: Estimated reduction of 5.69 lakh tonnes of CO₂ emissions, Commissioning Target: December 31, 2026
This solar project will make efficient use of Kachchh’s arid land, support local employment, and contribute to India’s renewable energy goals—500 GW by 2030 and Net Zero by 2070—advancing the nation’s transition to clean energy.
