Mohali's Clean Energy Push: 300-TPD Waste Plant Approved

In a major step toward sustainable waste management, the Mohali Municipal Corporation House has approved the establishment of a 300-TPD solid waste-to-CBG plant at Samgauli village in Derabassi.

Designed to process segregated wet waste, the facility will cater to nine urban local bodies across the Mohali cluster—such as Zirakpur and Derabassi—as well as GMADA. To facilitate the project, a 39-acre municipal land parcel is being considered for a 30-year lease agreement.

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation subsidiary, HPCL Renewable & Green Energy (HPRGE), will spearhead technical evaluations, including feasibility studies and soil investigations, while managing ongoing operations. By converting wet waste into compressed biogas and high-quality fermented organic manure, the plant aims to significantly boost local renewable energy production and waste processing infrastructure.
