Mongra Hydro Leading the Charge for Small Hydropower in Himachal Pradesh

Mongra Hydro Construction Private Limited's 1 MW Bagiarra, Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, small hydropower plant promotes sustainable energy. A run-of-the-river system will generate electricity from Bagiarra Nallah's natural resources in this Rs. 20 crore project. A 1.5 km headrace tunnel transports water to a powerhouse, where a 1 MW turbine generator creates grid electricity.

Benefits of the Mongra Hydro Project go beyond energy generation. Switching to clean, renewable energy reduces fossil fuel usage and greenhouse gas emissions. It will enhance the economy by providing employment during construction and operation and earning Himachal Pradesh money. By linking remote areas to the grid, it satisfies the critical need for rural electrification. Water security is improved by the project's reliable irrigation water supply.

Run-of-the-river systems covering 7.5 sq km demonstrate the project's reliability. The plant generates 4.5 GWh annually with a 1 MW Francis turbine with 140 m gross head and 3.5 cumec discharge. Specs show the project's technical proficiency and capabilities to increase Himachal Pradesh's energy production and regional economy. In 2023, the Mongra Hydro Project will ignite local economic development and clean energy.
