The Indore–Pithampur Economic Corridor project is advancing steadily, with the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) securing consent for nearly 300 hectares of land under its land pooling programme.
Valued at over ₹2,400 crore, the project aims to significantly enhance connectivity between Indore and Pithampur, two major industrial hubs in Madhya Pradesh. The proposed corridor spans 1,177 hectares, comprising both private and government-owned land. To date, MPIDC has received consent for 295 hectares from private landowners and has already transferred 170 hectares of government land for the project.
Once completed, the corridor is expected to strengthen logistics infrastructure, support key industries such as automobiles and pharmaceuticals, and attract fresh investments to the region. Expressing confidence in the project’s progress, MPIDC Executive Director Himanshu Prajapati said, “The response from landowners has been encouraging, and the project is moving in the right direction.”
The initiative is now entering the next phase, which includes finalising engineering designs and planning phased development. The corridor is expected to ease freight movement, reduce travel time, and enhance the overall industrial competitiveness of the region.
