MRF Ltd., the Chennai-based tyre manufacturer, has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu, facilitated through its nodal investment promotion agency Guidance, to set up a greenfield manufacturing facility for automotive tyres and allied products at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Sivaganga district.
The proposed project is planned to be developed over a 12-year period and is expected to involve an investment of around ₹5,300 crore, while creating direct employment for approximately 1,000 people, according to the company’s stock exchange filing.
MRF stated that the MoU remains non-binding and is subject to the Tamil Nadu government approving a customised incentive package, providing infrastructure support including land, and granting the necessary statutory clearances required for the project.
