Ahead of the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela, Nashik’s civic administration is preparing to ensure a 24x7 water supply to Sadhugram, which will host thousands of sadhus.
Two elevated storage reservoirs, with a combined capacity of 4 million litres per day (MLD), will be built in the Tapovan area. The Sadhugram site, originally planned over 500 acres, has been expanded to 1,152 acres to accommodate an estimated 10 lakh sadhus.
Additionally, a new 274 MLD water treatment plant (WTP) will be established in Vilholi. The plant will draw water from the Mukane Dam, utilizing its untapped capacity to guarantee adequate supply throughout the event.
