Navi Mumbai MediCity: A $1.2 Billion Leap in Healthcare & Innovation

The Maharashtra government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cleveland Clinic, Brookfield Asset Management, and Arodhan Health City (AHC) to develop the Navi Mumbai International MediCity (NMIMC), a large-scale healthcare and life sciences hub spread across approximately 250 acres.

The project is envisioned as an integrated healthcare, education, research, and innovation ecosystem that will bring together world-class hospitals, medical and nursing colleges, clinical research centres, biotechnology and life sciences facilities, and advanced AI-enabled healthcare infrastructure within a single campus. The development is expected to attract investments of around USD 1.2 billion and create more than 10,000 direct jobs.

Under the agreement, Cleveland Clinic will serve as the anchor institution, contributing its global expertise in healthcare delivery, medical education, research, innovation, and patient-centred care. The initiative will also foster collaboration with leading academic and research organisations to advance translational research, precision medicine, and artificial intelligence-driven healthcare solutions. The Maharashtra government will facilitate regulatory approvals and provide institutional support to ensure timely implementation of the project.

The Navi Mumbai International MediCity is expected to strengthen Maharashtra’s position as a leading destination for healthcare, medical research, and life sciences innovation, while enhancing access to advanced healthcare services and generating significant economic and employment opportunities.
