NCC Bags Daudhan Dam Construction for Ken-Betwa Link Project

National Construction Corporation (NCC) has secured the coveted position of L1 bidder for the Daudhan Dam project under the ambitious Ken-Betwa Link Project. The project, overseen by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, aims to link the Ken and Betwa rivers through extensive infrastructural development. NCC's responsibility encompasses the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the Daudhan Dam, including its upper and lower level tunnels. The bid, valued at Rs 3,389.49 crore, was opened on June 14, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the project's progression.

The Daudhan Dam, with a proposed height of 96.7 meters above its deepest foundation level, is a crucial component of the Ken-Betwa Link Project. It will facilitate the transfer of water between the two rivers, addressing regional water management challenges and bolstering agricultural and industrial activities in the region. The project falls under the purview of the Ken-Betwa Link Project Authority (KBLPA), a specially constituted entity by the central government, underscoring its national importance.

NCC's role extends beyond dam construction to include detailed planning, design, and the execution of ancillary works necessary for the project's success. The establishment of the steering committee further underscores the government's commitment to the timely and efficient implementation of this transformative initiative. Once completed, the Daudhan Dam and its associated infrastructure are expected to significantly enhance water availability and promote socio-economic development across the project area.

The financial bid's acceptance positions NCC as a key player in India's infrastructure landscape, highlighting its capability in executing complex, large-scale projects critical to the nation's water security and development agenda. As construction commences, all eyes will be on the progress of the Daudhan Dam, anticipating its impact on regional water resources and livelihoods, while setting a benchmark for future interlinking projects nationwide.
