Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, inaugurated the North Eastern Science & Technology (NEST) Cluster at IIT Guwahati on November 3, 2025.
During the event, he also laid the foundation stone for infrastructure and connectivity projects worth ₹635 crore across Assam, aimed at accelerating the state’s regional development. These projects include the establishment of 65 new secondary schools, the upgradation of the Chayagaon–Ukium Road, and the development of industrial estates at Ramphalbil (Kokrajhar) and Lakhibazar (Baksa).
The NEST Cluster, developed with an investment of ₹22.98 crore, will serve as a hub for grassroots innovation, focusing on semiconductors, artificial intelligence, bamboo-based technologies, and biodegradable plastics.
Minister Scindia emphasised that every infrastructure initiative reflects the government’s commitment to driving growth, innovation, and inclusive development across the North Eastern region.
