NHAI Green-Lights ₹45Cr Salem Flyover Project

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has announced plans to construct two flyovers at Kitchipalayam and Erumapalayam Junctions on the Salem–Ulundurpet National Highway.

These junctions, linking Salem Corporation with surrounding rural areas, experience heavy traffic and frequent accidents, affecting schoolchildren, daily commuters, and commercial vehicles. In response to local concerns, NHAI has approved the flyover construction to enhance road safety and reduce accidents. The project, estimated at ₹45 crore, will involve building flyovers measuring 500–600 metres in length.

The tender process has been completed, with construction expected to begin by the end of February 2026 and completion targeted for July 2027. Authorities are taking measures to fast-track the project ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections to avoid delays.
