Noida Connectivity Set to Soar with Bhangel Elevated Road

The Noida Authority has announced that two long-delayed infrastructure projects—the new administrative headquarters in Sector-96 and the Bhangel Elevated Road—will be inaugurated within the next two months, as construction work enters its final phase.

“We have decided to inaugurate these two projects in the next two months as both are being given final touches. We have directed staff to expedite the work so that they can be opened within the two-month deadline,” said Lokesh M, Chief Executive Officer of the Noida Authority.

The 5.5-kilometre, six-lane Bhangel Elevated Road, built above the Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera (DSC) Road, aims to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity between Noida and Greater Noida. Initially approved in 2013 and launched in 2020, the project's cost has increased from Rs 468 crore to Rs 608 crore due to design changes and delays. The corridor connects Agahpur to the Noida Special Economic Zone in Sector-82, bypassing congested localities such as Chhalera, Barola, and Bhangel. The installation of nine 60-metre steel girders near Barola Crossing is currently underway, with deck slab work scheduled for next month.

The project has faced repeated deadline extensions, with the most recent target set for 31 December 2024. Modifications, such as narrowing a 90-metre section due to obstructing buildings, have also contributed to delays.

Simultaneously, the Noida Authority's new twin-tower headquarters in Sector-96 is close to completion. Spread across six acres and originally estimated at Rs 478 crore, the project began in 2015 but encountered setbacks due to quality concerns and construction delays. It is now in its final stages, with the Authority aiming to complete and inaugurate it within the newly set timeframe.
