The Government of India has approved the establishment of a new Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, with an investment of ₹417 crore, as announced by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Developed by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), the cluster will span 200 acres and is projected to attract investments of around ₹2,500 crore while generating employment for approximately 15,000 people.
Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated, “The project will lead to the creation of world-class infrastructure and generate 15,000 jobs. It aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of boosting manufacturing in India.”
The EMC will cater to a range of sectors, including consumer and automotive electronics, medical devices, computer hardware, and communication equipment. It will offer plug-and-play infrastructure and shared facilities designed to support MSMEs and startups.
Strategically located near the Yamuna Expressway and the upcoming Jewar International Airport, the cluster benefits from excellent connectivity and proximity to other industrial zones. Key infrastructure components will include ready-to-use factory units, reliable power and water supply, sewage treatment, hostels, and health centers—aimed at minimizing logistics and infrastructure costs.
To date, the EMC scheme has attracted over 520 companies with investments totaling ₹30,000 crore, generating employment for nearly 86,000 people nationwide.
