NTPC Launches 1.2 GW Wind-Solar Hybrid Power Project Tender

NTPC has unveiled a significant tender for the development of a 1.2 GW ISTS-connected wind-solar hybrid power project across India. This initiative aligns with the country’s ambitious renewable energy targets and provides a crucial opportunity for industry players to contribute to the nation’s green energy transition. The tender also includes an option to expand the capacity by an additional 600 MW, making it one of the largest hybrid power projects in the country.

The tender invites bids from developers for projects with a minimum capacity of 50 MW, ensuring a diverse range of participants can compete. The process involves a rigorous technical and financial evaluation to ensure that only the most capable and financially stable developers are selected. The final date for bid submission is set for October 10, 2024, allowing ample time for prospective bidders to prepare their proposals.

In a move that encourages broader participation, NTPC has included exemptions for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), reflecting the government’s commitment to supporting small businesses in the renewable energy sector. This exemption could lead to increased involvement from smaller players, fostering innovation and competition within the industry.

The development of this wind-solar hybrid project is a strategic step towards achieving India’s renewable energy goals. Hybrid projects, which combine wind and solar power generation, offer the advantage of more consistent energy production and better utilization of transmission infrastructure, making them a vital component of the country’s energy strategy.

By launching this tender, NTPC continues to position itself as a leader in India’s energy transition. The success of this project will not only contribute to the country’s renewable energy capacity but also serve as a model for future hybrid energy initiatives, driving further growth in the sector.
