NTPC Shines Brighter: 85.5 GW Milestone Reached

NTPC has announced the commercial operation date (COD) for 359.58 MW of solar power capacity from projects in Gujarat and Rajasthan, taking its total commercial capacity to over 85.5 GW.

The company declared COD for 243.66 MW of the 1,255 MW Khavda-1 Solar PV project in Gujarat, which is being developed by NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC. In Rajasthan, 78 MW of the 245 MW Nokh Sokar Solar PV project has also commenced commercial operations.

In addition, NTPC commissioned 37.925 MW from its 300 MW Khavda Solar Energy Project, which forms part of the 450 MW Hybrid Tranche V project in Gujarat. “With this, the total installed and commercial capacity of the NTPC Group has reached 85,541 MW,” the company said in a statement.

NTPC continues to play a pivotal role in India’s power sector, meeting nearly one-fourth of the country’s electricity demand. The company currently has 30.90 GW of capacity under construction, including 13.3 GW from renewable energy projects.
