The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has proposed an investment of approximately ₹80,000 crore in solar and wind energy projects across Telangana, emphasizing the state's strong potential for renewable energy development.
NTPC Chairman and Managing Director Gurdeep Singh, along with a delegation, met with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday to present the proposal. During the meeting, the delegation highlighted that Telangana alone has the capacity to generate 6,700 MW through floating solar projects, underscoring the state's significant opportunity for clean energy growth.
NTPC expressed a strong commitment to advancing large-scale renewable energy initiatives in the region. In response, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy welcomed the proposal and assured full support from the state government to facilitate project implementation. Principal Secretary of the Energy Department, Navin Mittal, was also present at the meeting.
This proposed investment is part of NTPC’s larger strategy to accelerate its renewable energy portfolio while supporting Telangana’s shift toward sustainable power generation. The projects are expected to drive job creation, attract related industries, and enhance the state's green energy infrastructure, contributing to reduced carbon emissions and long-term energy security.
