NYK & Pipavav Port: A Strategic Drive for India's Auto Exports

Gujarat Pipavav Port has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with NYK to strengthen India’s expanding vehicle export ecosystem and automotive logistics, with a particular emphasis on electric vehicles (EVs).

The partnership focuses on enhancing RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off) infrastructure at Pipavav Port in Gujarat, which currently has the capacity to handle up to 500,000 vehicles annually. The initiative aims to reduce dwell time and improve coordination between vessels and rail operations, supporting the rising volumes of rail-borne automotive cargo at the port.

Located in Amreli, Gujarat, Pipavav Port serves as a key multi-cargo hub and a major gateway on India’s west coast, offering vital connectivity for international shipping lines and facilitating cargo movement across the northern and northwestern regions of the country. As the port expands its capabilities, both partners emphasize sustainability and operational efficiency, with NYK noting that advancing cleaner and more efficient logistics remains a shared priority.
