CESC Green Power, the renewable energy arm of West Bengal–based CESC, has secured in-principle approval from Odisha’s High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) for clean energy projects totaling ₹4,500 crore.
The approval encompasses multiple initiatives: a 3 GW solar cell manufacturing facility, a 3 GW solar module plant, a 5 GWh advanced chemistry battery cell pack and solar components unit, and a 60 MW AC captive power plant in the Dhenkanal district. These projects will be executed in three phases and represent a major step in CESC’s strategy to expand into solar cell and module manufacturing as well as battery storage solutions.
The company has also committed to achieving financial closure for the projects and extending full support through equity infusion and strategic assistance.
