The Government of Odisha has greenlit a major Deep Sea Fishing Mission with a budget exceeding ₹2,000 crore to accelerate blue economy-led growth. Approved during a Cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the program will be spearheaded by the Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department. According to Chief Secretary Anu Garg, the mission is strategically designed to harness offshore resources, modernize maritime infrastructure, scale up marine exports, and strengthen economic avenues for the state's coastal fishing communities.
