Palghar to Get New Twin-Runway Offshore Airport Near Kore Beach

Palghar is one step closer to getting an offshore airport. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis announced that a pre-feasibility report has cleared the proposed site near Kore Beach, and the Maharashtra Airport Development Corporation has been greenlit to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR).

Tied to the massive Vadhvan port project, this future two-runway hub is designed to ease Mumbai’s looming airport capacity crunch by 2050. What makes the site highly strategic is its connectivity. It is positioned just under 5 km from the Uttan-Virar Sea Link—meaning an extension could seamlessly connect it to Mumbai and Navi Mumbai airports—and it sits right next to a future Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train station. This looks like a massive win for Palghar's urban growth and regional transit.
