Panasonic Powers Up India: A New Era of Manufacturing

Panasonic is set to establish a new manufacturing unit in India as part of its broader strategy to expand its footprint in one of its fastest-growing markets.

Tadashi Chiba, Managing Director & CEO of Panasonic Life Solutions India, announced that the company plans to apply under the reopened window of the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for white goods, valued at Rs 6,238 crore. Highlighting a strategic shift from a Japan-led to an India-led model, Chiba noted, “Many of our Indian teams are already delivering global services, and we aim to strengthen this further.”

While Panasonic is widely recognized for its consumer durables, nearly 50% of its India revenue is now driven by the B2B segment, with strong growth in supply chain solutions, industrial devices, and building systems.

Speaking at Electronica India in Bengaluru, Chiba emphasized that India offers not just robust demand, but also strong talent and customer ecosystems. Panasonic is focusing on three key growth areas in India: AI platforms and services, electric vehicles (EVs), and living space solutions, aligning its efforts with the government’s PLI scheme to drive localized manufacturing and innovation.
