During a recent visit to the Paradip Port Authority (PPA) in Odisha, the Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways inaugurated and laid the foundation for projects exceeding Rs 13 crore. These initiatives aim to enhance the port's infrastructure and services significantly.
A key highlight was the inauguration of the Trauma and Burn Care (TBC) Centre at the Paradip Port Hospital. Constructed at a cost of Rs 2.90 crore, this centre will provide vital curative and rehabilitative services for trauma and burn victims in the region.
The Secretary also laid the foundation for a Water Treatment Plant at PPA, costing Rs 10.50 crore. This plant, with a filtration capacity of 16 million litres per day, will source raw water from the Taldanda Canal and is expected to be operational by December 2024, improving water quality for Port Township residents.
During the visit, the Secretary reviewed PPA's operations, interacted with key officials, and inspected critical facilities like the Mechanized Coal Handling Plant and Twin Wagon Tipplers. He proposed system improvements to enhance productivity and overall port performance.
These developments align with the Vision 2047 plan to expand Paradip Port's handling capacity and the Sagarmala programme's broader goals to increase India's port capacity, highlighting significant private investment opportunities.
