The ambitious "Coal Project at Baloda," in Janjgir-Champa, Chhattisgarh, is being undertaken by Paras Power and Coal Benefication Limited. This project plans to generate 0.96 million tonnes of coal annually (Mln tpa) at a cost of 15 Crores. As a coal washery, it removes impurities to improve raw coal for power plants and other industrial uses.
The project might increase coal output in Chhattisgarh and enhance coal quality for industrial use, lowering the environmental impact of coal mining and use. It is expected to boost Janjgir-Champa's economy by creating jobs for locals.
This project has certain challenges despite its potential. Environmental impacts from coal mining and processing are important. Land acquisition, community relocation, and coal washery air and water pollution must be considered and mitigated for sustainable implementation. No completion date has been announced for this project.
As on December 2023, The project is currently in the stage of being approved currently awaiting approval from the government.
