"Parvati" Arrives: Kanpur Metro Accelerates Line 2 Tunneling

The Kanpur Metro Project has successfully deployed its third Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), named "Parvati," at Rawatpur Station for Line 2. This machine will be used to construct the 8.38 km corridor from Agriculture University to Barra-8.

TBM Parvati is a refurbished Herrenknecht earth pressure balance (EPB) machine designed to perform key tunneling operations. The KNPCC-11 package, awarded in December 2023, is valued at Rs 7.62 billion, with a completion deadline set for 30 months. This package includes tunneling tasks such as a 750-meter stretch from Rawatpur to Kakadeo and a 700-meter tunnel leading towards the Kakadeo Station box.
