Perambur Gets a Rs 100 Crore Infrastructure Boost

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has unveiled a comprehensive infrastructure blueprint exceeding Rs 100 crore for the Perambur constituency, represented by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay. Funded through a mix of GCC allocations, CM special funds, state grants, and external foreign bank financing, the initiative spans sports, healthcare, education, and public amenities.

Major highlights include a six-acre integrated sports complex near GNT Road equipped for football, cricket, badminton, and handball, alongside a new four-story hospital at Sathyamoorthy Nagar to ease reliance on neighboring Kolathur and Tondiarpet facilities. To ensure safety, construction on the hospital will await structural stability clearance from Anna University. Additionally, the plan outlines the modernization of mid-century corporation schools under the Chennai Schools initiative and the transformation of a 270-meter stretch on North Avenue Road in MKB Nagar into a bustling food street modeled after Anna Nagar.
