South Kalamb Power Transmission has been established as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL), which in turn is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Power Finance Corporation (PFC).
This incorporation is in line with the Ministry of Power’s directive appointing PFCCL as the Bid Process Coordinator (BPC) to facilitate the selection of a Transmission Service Provider (TSP) through a Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process. The SPV has been created to develop a dedicated transmission system, which will be transferred to the successful bidder selected via international competitive bidding, as per TBCB guidelines issued by the Ministry.
The chosen bidder will take over the implementation and development of the project. This initiative promotes a transparent, structured, and efficient framework for private sector participation in transmission projects, thereby strengthening grid infrastructure and encouraging investment and competitiveness in the power sector.
