On February 11, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and initiated the groundwork for a series of development endeavors valued at approximately Rs 7,300 crore in Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh.
These initiatives aim to uplift the substantial tribal populace of the region, bolster water supply infrastructure, enhance access to clean drinking water, and revitalize sectors such as transportation, energy, and education within the state. Among the unveiled projects, the Prime Minister laid the cornerstone for CM Rise School in Jhabua, which will leverage technology to furnish modern amenities such as smart classrooms and e-Libraries to students. Additionally, PM Modi initiated the establishment of Tantya Mama Bhil University, poised to serve the youth hailing from tribal-dominated districts of the state.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated the 'Nal Jal Yojna’ for 50 Gram Panchayats of Jhabua, a scheme set to provide tap water to approximately 11 thousand households. Furthermore, foundation stones were laid for the redevelopment of Ratlam railway station and Meghnagar railway station under the Amrit Bharat station scheme. Noteworthy railway projects dedicated to the nation included the doubling of the Indore-Dewas-Ujjain C cabin railway line, the Itarsi-North-South grade separator with yard remodelling, and the third line connecting Barkhera-Budni-Itarsi, all aimed at fortifying rail infrastructure and reducing travel time for both passenger and freight trains.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated several road development projects exceeding a total investment of Rs 3,275 crore in the state. These projects encompassed the four-laning of various highways and sections, including the Harda-Betul (Package-I), Ujjain Dewas section of NH-752D, Indore-Gujarat MP Border section of NH-47, and Chicholi-Betul (Package-III), among others. Such initiatives are anticipated to augment road connectivity and stimulate economic progress in the region.
Additionally, the Prime Minister unveiled and initiated the groundwork for other significant developmental endeavors such as waste dumpsite remediation and electric substation projects. Furthermore, PM Modi allocated Rs 55.9 crore for 559 villages under the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, earmarked for various construction activities including Anganwadi Bhawans, Fair Price Shops, Health Centres, additional rooms in schools, and internal roads, among others.
Moreover, foundation stones were laid for upcoming projects like the Talavada Project, a drinking water supply scheme(WSS) for over one thousand villages of Dhar & Ratlam, and 14 urban WSS under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0, expected to benefit more than 50 thousand urban households across multiple districts of the state.
