Powering Up: RVNL Clinches ₹242Cr Andhra Rail Project

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has secured a ₹242.49 crore contract from South Central Railway for an overhead electrification upgrade project in Andhra Pradesh, the company said in a regulatory filing.

The project involves upgrading the existing 1x25 kV traction system to a more efficient 2x25 kV autotransformer (AT) feeding system. The scope of work includes the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of overhead equipment (OHE), along with feeder and earthing works.

The upgrade will be implemented on the Ongole–Gudur section of the Vijayawada Division, covering 154 route kilometres (RKM), equivalent to 462 track kilometres (TKM).

According to RVNL, the project is scheduled to be completed within 24 months.
