Progress in Motion: BMC Begins Work on Manori Desalination Project

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken a significant step forward with the proposed Manori desalination plant after receiving advance possession of the project site from the Mumbai Suburban District Collector.

Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) Abhijit Bangar confirmed that preliminary work has commenced, though the final handover and land area corrections are currently being finalized in coordination with the revenue department. Once operational, the facility is expected to bring major relief to residents of Gorai, who routinely face low pipeline pressure and water shortages, while bolstering Mumbai’s overall water security.
