Purabi Dairy, under the West Assam Milk Producers' Co-operative Union Ltd (WAMUL), has signed a pact with the Assam government to operate a new dairy plant in Dhemaji district. This 5,000-litre daily capacity plant will significantly enhance milk production in the region. The agreement, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Directorate of Dairy Development (DoDD), marks a strategic move for WAMUL to expand its operations and market reach.
The collaboration aims to provide substantial income opportunities for local farmers by opening new markets and offering extensive training programs. These initiatives are designed to foster growth and development within the local dairy farming community. WAMUL's Managing Director, Sameer Kr Parida, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating it would elevate the dairy sector in upper Assam and ensure greater availability of Purabi milk and milk products.
Operations at the Dhemaji plant are expected to begin shortly, promising a significant boost to the region's dairy industry. This development not only strengthens the local economy but also ensures a steady supply of quality dairy products to the community. The new plant is poised to play a crucial role in the growth of Assam's dairy sector.
